Hmm, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything like this before. Industrial gothpunk, a genre you’ve ever heard of? Me neither. And while it’s a tad groundbreaking it’s also a tad annoying. If Rob Zombie happened to be a punkrocker instead of a metalhead this is what his solo project would sound like. And that’s not bad. Unfortunately Giglinger have a tendency to send out Marilyn Manson vibes, and that’s just wrong! But that only happens every now and then, so I’ll do my best to look pass it.
For the first listen this CD bugged the hell out of me, but I have a hard time sitting still while Distortion+ is on. The production’s perfect for this weird-as-hell music, so I can’t say there’s anything to complain about.
While this is very energetic, catchy and original it’s just a bit too schizoid for my taste. But if you’re a stoned guy/gal into metal, punk or industrial synthesizer based music you should have no problem rocking along to this. The key is probably however to be severely stoned. Imagine a mix of Rob Zombie, Misfits, Danzig, Marilyn Manson and The Streets, and you should get this confused state of mind I have right now.
