Finland’s Giglinger has a motto: “No gigs, no bullshit, just four song vinyl EP’s”. This lo-fi punk band has found Lords Of Metal and send us the ‘200 bpm EP’ on which, you could have guessed, four songs are presented. This EP was released in their own country in 2008 but has been re-released for the international market. Recorded live on an 8-track recorder resulting in a raw sound. Style wise this indeed is punk and if you should compare this to other bands I would say it’s in the direction of old Hüsker Dü and Dead Kennedys with a production that wouldn’t have been out of place on recordings of proto-punk acts like The Stooges and MC5. (72/100)

Scanner Zine

Third EP from this Finnish quartet that adamantly refuses to play any shows. It’s quite different from the previous ‘Distortion +’, having replaced the old MINISTRY-esque Industrialisms with some amped-up Garage Punk, the vibe of which is no doubt aided by the fact that this is recorded live onto an 8-track. Opener ‘Dead Wrong’ sets the tone for the following Garage Punk fuzz with its TEEN GENERATE jamming with CRIME on a selection of SNIVELLING SHITS outtakes feel. Highlight of the four tracks (besides ‘Dead Wrong’) is ‘One Last Go’ that pivots around a slick and fuzzed guitar lead and suitably surly vocal. I’m guessing there is still a drum machine used, but it’s not as apparent as on the ‘Distortion +’ release. Raw, rampant and very rocking!! These fellas should seriously consider sending this to Tom at Dead Beat Records; it would sit next to the likes of DAILY VOID, BILL BONDSMEN and DC SNIPERS very well!

Troublezine

This EP came out in 2008 already, but this is the international version (whatever they mean by that?).
These Finnish dudes deliver 4 tracks of some kind of punk rock with a garage vibe. It’s all recorded in their rehearsal room on an old 8-track recorder, so it’s definetely D.I.Y. (do it yourself).
This is their third vinyl EP, and as there won’t be any gigs, vinyl is the only way to experience this band.
But is it any good then? Well, it’s not so bad. I’ve heared better, I’ve heared worse. So I guess they’re a middle good band. They dosen’t sound like any other Finnish bands that I’ve heared, but on the other hand I’ve mainly heared punk/hardcore bands and metal from our neighbours in the east.
